Another question we get frequently at Rocket City Doulas is “Is it too late to hire a doula?” Maybe you’re 38 weeks and just found out what a labor doula does and that sounds amazing to you. Maybe you’re 41 weeks and your plans have changed and you need more support postpartum than you thought you would earlier in your pregnancy. You might think you’re too close to giving birth to hire a doula.
Before we made the switch to the agency model, the answer could have been “Yes, it is too late.” Solo doulas have a limit on how many clients they can take on at a time. Solo doulas are trying their very best not to have overlapping clients or have too many births in one week, leaving them exhausted. They may spread out labor clients and postpartum clients so as to not overlap the two. That means their calendars fill up quickly and early! (I know mine did! I was often completely booked 6 months in advance!)
The agency model allows your labor doula team to not only share the on-call but to recover well from births so they can go into the next birth rested and ready! That means your RCD doula team can provide every client with great support, even if they are late in their pregnancy with they hire us!
We know that the journey to motherhood can be unpredictable and may not always go as planned. At Rocket City Doulas, we believe that every client can have the support they desire, regardless of their gestational stage. So, if you’re wondering whether it’s too late to hire a labor or a postpartum doula, rest assured that there’s a compassionate Rocket City Doulas doula team available to be by your side.
If you’re still pregnant and you find yourself asking “Is It Too Late to Hire a Doula?” we can confidently say, “It’s not too late to hire a doula from Rocket City Doulas!”
