- Position changes. You don’t have to run through every position you found on the internet. Find a few positions that work well for you by experimenting with movement.
- Slow deep breathing. Encourage your support people to help you with modeling this with you.
- Heat/ice. A heating pad behind the back is one of my FAVORITE comfort measures, even when I’m not pregnant.
- Meditation. If you’ve been practicing while pregnant, here’s the time to use this! (A good number of our clients have used Hypnobabies or Christian Hypnobirthing)
- Protected environment. People often prefer very little in the way of distractions at this point. Turn down the lights, play soft, relaxing music, ask your support people to refrain from talking during contractions.
